Exploring Norway

Welcome to Høgelibu! We rent out our family cabin just outside of Voss when we’re not using it ourselves.

We’ve got a super cozy Tiny Cabin sleeping 5 persons, and a roomy Main Cabin sleeping 8+ people.

Both are well equipped and feature a panoramic view and separate outdoor areas. Høgelibu is an excellent hub for visiting Bergen, Voss, Voss Gondola, Hardanger, Trolltunga, Vøringsfossen waterfall, Flåmsbana scenic railway, Stegastein, Kjeåsen, Dronningstien and more. The hiking possibilities are endless.

In the winter you’ll find cross country ski slopes withinin walking distance and Voss Resort (downhill) only 20 min away.

Welcome to Høgelibu - book your stay today!

High up in the mountain side you’ll find Kjeåsen Mountain Farm at an altitude of about 600 m. When the farm was built, the only way up was the almost vertical hiking trail from the fjord, explaining why it took almost 30 years to finish one of the houses up there. The trail was also the daily hike to school down in the valley for the kids living at the farm.

In 1974 a narrow tunnel was built, making it possible to drive up there. It is 2,5 km long and only wide enough for one car, thus every full hour it is one-way direction upwards, and every half hour it is one-way downwards.

The hike up from the bottom is spectacular and you’ll use 1-2 hours each way depending on your fitness level. Remember to bring enough food and water.

Kjeåsen is located about 1 h drive from Høgelibu. On your way you’ll pass by Skjervsfossen waterfall and cross the Hardanger Bridge. Kjeåsen is also close to Vøringsfossen waterfall.
