Flåm is on the bucket list of most of the tourists visiting the area. It is known for the Flåm scenic railway ‘Flåmsbana’ and part of the popular ‘Norway in a Nutshell’-tour.

It is indeed beautiful in Flåm, and the railway is very nice. If you stay at Høgelibu, we suggest a day trip to Flåm and your own tour.

Train - (boat) - bus

• Train from Voss to Myrdal (along the Bergensbanen, the train line between Bergen and Oslo. About 1 h.

• Take the Flåmsbana from Myrdal to Flåm, enjoy the scenic train ride. About 1 h.

• OPTIONAL: Cruise from Flåm to Gudvangen

• Bus from Flåm or Gudvangen back to Voss.

• Drive to Flåm (about 70 min drive).

• OPTION: Do the Flåmsbana scenic train ride - return tickets.

• Drive back to Høgelibu.

• Flåm is a small village. If you can avoid joining 3000 cruise ship tourists when you’re there, you’ll appreciate it!

• The Flåm zip-line is awesome! Did you know that you can do the Flåmsbana one way up, and then zip-line down again, before biking back to Flåm? Several of our guests at Høgelibu have done this experience!

• Why not stop by Undredal on your way between Høgelibu and Flåm? See the Stave Church there and enjoy this pictoresque village by the fjord. Do not forget to buy a slice of the local Undredal cheese.
