Welcome to Høgelibu! We rent out our family cabin just outside of Voss when we’re not using it ourselves.

We’ve got a super cozy Tiny Cabin sleeping 5 persons, and a roomy Main Cabin sleeping 8+ people.

Both are well equipped and feature a panoramic view and separate outdoor areas. Høgelibu is an excellent hub for visiting Bergen, Voss, Voss Gondola, Hardanger, Trolltunga, Vøringsfossen waterfall, Flåmsbana scenic railway, Stegastein, Kjeåsen, Dronningstien and more. The hiking possibilities are endless.

In the winter you’ll find cross country ski slopes withinin walking distance and Voss Resort (downhill) only 20 min away.

Local sights and activities

  • Voss Vind

    VossVind is Norways first vertical, recirculating wind tunnel. In a wind tunnel you can experience to fly in a safe and controlled environment. Many are thinking of flying in the wind tunnel as an extreme sport, but it is not. It is completely safe – just extremely fun!

    Only 15 min drive from the cabin. Book in advance.

  • Voss Active

    Rafting? Canoeing? Fishing? Guided hiking? Voss Active offers a variety of activities. Book in advance.

  • Voss Gondol

    Departing from the train station/tourist information in the town centre, Voss Gondol takes you up to 800 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a magnificent view and a meal in the restaurant.

  • Bordalsgjelet gorge

    The deep and imposing Bordalsgjelet has been adapted for the visiting public with an information board, a viewpoint and benches for resting tired legs. When the ground isn’t hidden by snow it is possible to follow a purposely-built path that guides you to the gorge.

    Here you can experience an impressive view of the potholes that have been formed by the ice and river over a period of many thousands of years. Always remember to keep to the marked trails for your own safety!

  • Voss Resort

    Voss Resort has something to offer skiers at all levels, whether you are a beginner just learning how to ski, or an experienced skier looking for something a bit more challenging.

  • Flåm Zipline

    The longest zipline of the Nordic countries. 1381 meters long. Top speed about 100 km/h. 305 meters height difference. Get ready for a thrill! Book in advance. About 1 h drive from the cabin.

Scenic drives

  • Aurlandsfjellet

    East of Voss (97 km) along the E16 (one of the main roads towards Oslo) you find the longest car tunnel (24 km) in the world, the Lærdalstunnel.

    If you’ve got time, you may consider driving over the mountain instead of through the tunnel. Then you’ll cross the Aurlandsmountain. It’ well worth a detour to get to experience this scenic route.

  • Hardanger

    Only 30 min drive south of the cabin, you’ll find Hardangerfjord. It’s a beautiful area with lots of sights and beautiful scenery.

  • Hardangervidda

    Hardangervidda is one of Norways national parks, and the biggest high mountain plateau in Northern Europe. The Vøringsfossen (waterfall) with the new pedestrian bridge pictured above, is a must see. It’s located 65 km drive from Høgelibu.

A collection of shops: Supermarket, pharmacy, sporting goods, fashion/apparel, etc.

Just by down by the main road., you’ll find the following shops:

Grocery stores: Kiwi and Rema1000.

At the “Vossevangen” - the town centre, you’ll find a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. The main street is worth a visit all year around.

Arriving from Europe

  • By ferry

    NB: It’s highly recommended to book in advance. Many sailings during peak season will be sold out.

    You may arrive by a car ferry from Denmark (DK) or Germany (DE). Onward travel times to Voss in brackets.

    Fjordline:
    From Hirtshals (DK) to Stavanger (5 h) or Bergen (1,5 h)
    From Hirtshals (DK) to Langesund (6 h)
    From Hirtshald (DK) to Kristiansand (6,5 h)

    Color Line:
    From Hirtshals (DK) to Kristiansand (6,5 h)
    From Hirtshals (DK) to Larvik (6 h)
    From Kiel (DE) to Oslo (5,5 h)

  • Via Sweden

    You can travel to Sweden, and drive along the south-western coast of Sweden to Oslo. It’s possible to drive via Denmark and the islands to Sweden, or go by ferry from Germany to Sweden or Denmark.

    The drive from sotuhern Sweden via Göteborg to Oslo is not the most scenic drive - mostly forest and plains. To be honest, it’s boring. :) But it’s good quality highway (as opposed to the Norwegian roads).
